10 Most Common Web Photo Mistakes

I was looking through some blogs and found this, 10 Most Common Web Photography Mistakes by MulltiChannel Merchant.  Below is a summary of their story:

    1. Blurry or distorted photos.
    2. Strange or dull colors.
    3. Slow-loading photos.
    4. “Jagged scissor edges” from poor editing.
    5. Too dark or too bright.
    6. Photos that are too small.
    7. A distracting (or just plain ugly) background.
    8. A lack of appeal.
    9. A lack of quality.
    10. Having too few photos.

This is a great list.  I might have added a few more:

  • photos that don’t truly represent your company or church
  • poorly cropped photos
  • strange photos that don’t relate to the page or story
  • having too many photos on one page

A question to ponder, “Should we use photos of people from our church or only use stock photos?”  I’ve got a few feelings on that subject.

OK, so those are the most common mistakes. Any good resources for avoiding those same mistakes?
