Weekend Updates and Random Thoughts
Here’s some of what happened this weekend:
- Mowed our yard and two others for Chris - I can’t wait till Chris’ foot heals and the grass quits growing. Wouldn’t it be great to have warm weather and not have to cut the yard once a week?
- Had an unwanted visitor, another mole! - Didn’t get him the first time, but…yes “Another one bites the dust, and another one gone…” Hard to pass up a good song from Queen.
- Chris Newkirk tried really hard to trash talk my fantasy football skills - I was 2-0 going into the weekend. Most everyone has been real surprised at my success. He put a poll out to those in our league asking if they thought I’d get kicked off my high horse. I haven’t said a word about my success. I still have not. You’ll have to ask Chris who won this week.
- I’ve had the opportunity to baptize three people in the past two weeks. - Nothing like starting the morning off on Sunday by baptizing. What a kick! Two of the people I baptized I actually met through Facebook. Who says you can’t build relationships through the internet!
- One of the three I baptized was an 8 year old boy - Some random thoughts: Pure joy. Authentic. Mother and Father…all grins. Memories for a lifetime. Russell Oltmanns taking cherished photos. Making a HUGE boom during the music.
- Got to hang out with Chris and Kelly Wehunt - What a joy to see some of our favorite newly weds. Reminds me how important it is to pour into others.
- Praying with Dan - had to opportunity to pray with a young man named Dan this weekend. Dan is from Kenya. He’s a freshman at UCO. Can you imagine coming half-way around the world, not knowing anyone to attend college? Way to go Kathryn and Bill for adopting Dan. You’re some of my new heroes!
- Helping people take the next step - Give it up to Jacqui and her team this weekend. We will never know how much this weekend helped people feel welcomed and how it may have encouraged them to take the next step at HHBC. Keep it up girl!
- Celebrating Kevin’s B-Day - We had a blast and laughed until we cried. It’s been a long time since I’ve laughed that hard. Laughter really is good medicine.
I’ve been a little slow in posting lately. Sorry about that. I hope to be able to post more in the upcoming weeks. I owe a few updates related to:
- Photography - shutter speed and ISO settings
- Marketing plans - the results from our ‘All Together Now’ emphasis
- Multi-Site - how things are going in our first multi-site campus located in Stillwater
- New Web Site - what we’ve done to get our staff up to speed with the new site and also how we have been informing our church about it’s reach
