What Do You Dismiss?
I have to start this post off with a few definitions from the American Heritage Dictionary…
Dismiss - to put off or away, esp. from consideration; put aside; reject
Ignorance - the condition of being uneducated, unaware, or uninformed
Insensitivity - deficient in human sensibility, acuteness of feeling, or consideration; unfeeling; callous
How often do you, or I, dismiss an….
- idea
- thought
- statement
- person
- situation
- movie
- song
- generation
- culture
….(you add the word) due to my ignorance or insensitivity?
Here are some examples I’ve heard or thought lately…
- Text messaging is stupid. Just pick up the phone!
- We’re not going to do _____ because we’ve never done it that way before.
- How can people really call MySpace and Facebook ways to build relationships
- Why do we waste our time trying to reach all the people with tatoos, piercings, long hair, (you add your words)?
- How could anyone listen to (add your style of music) music?
- People who blog are only trying to promote themselves.
- Church marketing is not Christian.
- This generation is unreachable.
- How will doing _______ reach anyone for Christ?
Too many times I dismiss something due to my ignorance or insensitivity. I’m REALLY trying to get better at this! How about you?
